It is possible to order a Breeze card online from the MARTA web site, and have it mailed to you if you think that worthwhile.Amtrak’s Crescent trains stop in Atlanta each day on the way to either New Orleans or New York City.

MARTA buses still accept cash fares, but you will not receive a free transfer if you pay with cash instead of using a Breeze card or ticket. Out-of-town visitors should note there is no MARTA ticket vending machine at the Amtrak station. A cab would probably make the trip from Lenox Square to the Amtrak station in about 10 minutes when auto traffic is light. The Lenox Square MARTA rail station is near the Hertz office, but walking there with luggage in the rain could be awkward. If the weather is bad, I can't recommend public transit as there is no bus shelter for the northbound #110 bus at the train station, and no bus shelter in either direction at the Hertz rental location at Lenox Square. The train/bus transfer took about the same amount of time as taking the #110 bus all the way, though traffic congestion could slow the bus down at rush hours during the week. On Sunday we stopped first at the Amtrak station to check our large bags, and then drove to Lenox Square to return the car (that Hertz location is open until 5 pm on Sunday, and the mall itself is open until 6 pm.) We took a MARTA train from the Lenox station to the Arts Center and transferred to the #110 bus back to the Amtrak station. It's about a 20 minute ride when there is no traffic congestion. Upon arrival on Friday, we caught the #110 bus outside the station northbound it took us straight to the Hertz rental location at Lenox Square. Our transfer from train to rental car and back again went very smoothly last month. If you want to ensure that a person is there to check you in so that you can be certain the car was received, the airport is your best option. Regardless of which rental car company you use, you will be able to drop your car off after hours even if the office is no longer open and leave your keys in a drop box. I would check rates on, then go to the individual company's website to actually book the reservation and check their hours. There are many rental car agencies downtown: Hertz, Thrifty, Budget, Enterprise, Avis. The advantage of the airport location is that the rental car companies should be open 24 hours, while the downtown locations have more limited business hours. The advantage of downtown is that it is closer and the rates will be lower without the airport fees. This will only work during normal business hours.Ģ) You can board the MARTA bus outside of the Amtrak station, take the bus to the MARTA train station, and take the MARTA train to downtown or the airport.

I've used the Enterprise on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta several times, and have always found them to be professional and courteous.

Here are your options:ġ) Enterprise will pick you up from the train station and take you to their office to arrange the rental. There are not any rental car companies at or near the small Amtrak station.
